Wow, no offside would really open things up. Its difficult to imagine how a game would be though, surely you couldn't just let a player stand 3 yards from the goal line throughout the entire game?

In my child hood we played football and offside, you must be joking,it was basics, you attacked one end,you defended the other, and systems, were simple,. There are a lot of mistakes made with the off side rule,The latest is a player interfering with play. Of coarse he is,he is on the pitch. With no offside ,a lot of controversial decisions would disappear,,But who knows, the fans do not make the laws of the game. I remember the term Goal hanger,A old position, brought back

The offside rule is just plain silly. If an attacking team wastes a player up front goal hanging then it is up to the defending team to decide whether to mark him or not.
Also, any swearing at officials, yellow card
injured players must leave field for treatment. If as a result of a foul, the offender must also leave the field for the same time period if booked
game clock stopped and started by the ref eliminating "injury time". The clock displayed so all know when it is stopped and started again.
The fourth official to be replaced by a punchbag wearing a ref kit
linesmen to be called linesmen again
two refs on the pitch who can confer over decisions
all players allowed to punch spectators who try and wind them up

Rugby League - ref has nothing to do with the watch. A bloke in the stands sounds a buzzer for full-time.
Rugby Union - no one argues with the ref.
Cricket & Rugby - close decisions called by video replay in the stands.
NASL - back in the USA in the 1970's, when Pele & Beckenbauer played there, the 30 yard run up was how they settled games. The Americans, the animals that they are, didn't like draws so they had shoot-outs during most games. That's old news. Hockey too - that's how a girl from Belper won the Gold medal for Team GB at the Olympics.
It's staggering how in the dark ages football is.
I was only talking this morning about how Nigel once said that teams should be docked points for misdemeanours - I can't remember which issue - maybe arguing / screaming Roy Keane-like at the ref. What's the point in a £50,000 fine at Chelsea or Man City?
To quote the great man, I could go on all night and I probably will....
