Almost daily now some one is quoted saying this about us. These are big club supporters or reporters such as Newcastle fans (and others), who say. "No disrespect to Burton but it is going to be a shock for us to play there". Translated into what they actually mean to say. "we shouldn't be playing small tinpot clubs like Burton, we are a different class" I think a massive sign should be installed, to be read by the players as they pass through the tunnel on to the pitch which should say "NO DISRESPECT TO BURTON, BUT...". surely a great motivational message if ever one were needed.

See what you mean Observer...a bit like "Welcome To Anfield."
Perhaps ours should read, "Welcome To The Real World?"

Fact Bradley Johnson cost Derby County, over 6 million, not counting his salary, will we have that amount for wages.for the entire squad Cheap season tickets still on sale, for a once in a life time show. Most of the clubs next year, will have double our maximum compacity,in friendlies, Cannot think of one team we will be favourites to beat. But we will show them a hard time, and will fight for every point, and be united,in our quest, With better floodlights, and, media expansion ,We have improved already,It is our field of dreams, and if we fail---we will be back. I agree welcome to the real world

At least people know who Burton Albion are now.
And most of the talk admires what the club has done.

"No disrespect to Burton, but we're considerably bigger and better than yo"
Reminds me of Harry Enfield.

Surely its 'Nigel Cloughs Burton Albion',you no the rules. That's when they are speaking truly respectfully of and not pretending to speak respectfully of us. We are as you say Nigel Clough's Burton Albion. I can tolerate that, even though it must jar many of us including Nigel I suspect.

Hi guys, take these statements as a back handed compliment we have had it for years and because we have earned the right to play the big boys. We could just as easily say "no disrespect to the big clubs but if they had been managed properly they would not be playing the Wigans and Burtons of this world". It gives you a prouder feeling knowing you have beaten a big club.

It gives you a prouder feeling knowing you have beaten a big club. I'm intrigued a bit by this big club / small club stuff. I started getting into football when I was 5 or 6 (1970's) and so I can empathise with Stelatic cos Wigan were a TINY club when I was a kid - not even in the league. Was it 1978? Wimbledon came up about the same time but they were a 'small club' when they were in the Premiership. But I've always thought of Cambridge Utd as a big club cos they were a league club and I remember Derby County playing them back in the 80's in the old Div 2. You ask any 15 year old and they'd say that Wigan is a big club. Where would we all put Portsmouth? If Coventry stay in League One for the next twenty years, will they STILL be a big club? Which big clubs did we beat last season? Coventry, Peterborough (just), Gillingham, Wigan (sorry mate), Port Vale, Sheffield Utd. Little old Burton Albion aren't fit to lace their boots but look at us. Which big clubs are in League Two? Notts County, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Oxford etc Yep - it's a massive leap but why can't we beat these teams? A big wodge of cash gets you nowt - ask the REALLY big boys in the game how last season went. History means nowt - we used to look up to Margate & Yeovil. The more I think about it, this negativity dressed up as realism isn't realism at all. We can stay up. I'm not daft enough to think we can do a Bournemouth but we may well be OK. Ponder over...for now.

John Mousinho said at the start of last season that the size of the club, its history and fan base counted for nothing, we were playing against the players representing that club in that match. That fine philosophy served us well and although it will be more difficult this season I believe it will serve us well again.
