I fear this could well happen. We would miss him, and he would be difficult to replace. Hope it isn't true though.

A player as good as McCrory needs to be playing football as much as possible, he would get games if he stays with us, or he could go and sit on the bench with Nasser and play the odd 20 mins or so every few weeks. A season gaining experience with us at a higher level would benefit him, and put him in the shop window for a bigger move in 12 months and may put him in contention for international call ups.

Take best offer we can get and re-invest
He's ok but he's not great
Would be far more worried if someone took Mousinho

The outcome of all this of course will be a good guide as to those who love being part of the Burton Albion set up, or whether the lure of possibly more money is too much for them?
Interesting times ahead over the summer as Nigel assembles a squad capable of competing in the Championship and I'm sure the outcome will be much debate on who should or shouldn't stay and the quality and relative merits of any new players he signs?
All that is assuming Nigel himself isn't lured away to Nottingham Forest?
It's going to be a long and interesting close season with potential for divided views amongst the fans.

Personally I'm hoping for a very conservative/prudent approach whereby we don't spend much money and we try to establish a good quality League One squad to set us up for say the next 3 campaigns, in the same way the current spine has sorted us out for the last couple of years... cash in on away fans absolutely (possibly via temporary arrangements around additional capacity or additional away allocation of existing terrace space)... try to engage new fans through the Championship hype factor so that if we drop back down we could average (say) 5,000 ongoing... it's been a great ride again this season but when I reflect on it having had a few days to get used to it, I find it quite ridiculous really! We haven't even played that well overall necessarily - I know that sounds a silly thing to say but when I think of the amount of times poor Stuart Beavon god bless him has been tirelessly isolated up top for example, I think if we hadn't got promoted, our current squad could easily have been a mid-table one in League One (reality of second season, less momentum/buoyancy from having just won the league, less surprise factor/underestimation etc). Best will in the world I don't see us as a Championship club in the medium term (I know back in the day people never saw us as a Conference club, League 2 club etc but at the level we've got to now we're talking craziness - money, media, big city catchment areas, sugar daddy owners, players earning five figures a week etc). I love Burton Albion and I'm not a resistant-to-change naysayer... I just think the coming year will feel (to me at least) strange and potentially a bit uncomfortable... but agree that this close season is going to be a ride in itself!

QPR want "a bit of that"
Pink Floyd Hasslebonk's Queens of the South Park Rangers are looking to emulate the success of their near neighbours, over the border in Staffolkshire who have recently done the impossible by being promoted above the 1st league. The double Dutchman Pink said in an interview "OK guysh, itsh like totally out there, I needed a good schmoke to recover. The first league is the top one, right? How do you go up from the top? Itsh mashed my mind like a bong full of asmshterdam wacky week at a three-way gay weddingsh."
Hosstlepink, formerly with Chelshea, said he would do everything he could to bring the success of Nigel Clough's Buxted Allbones to South Park. "I've put in a bid for the toiletsh and the little grash roller thing they keep in that metal spaceship shed thing in the corner, man". "I'll buy it all, peesch by pesch"
Queen of the South Park's chairman exclaimed "You killed Kenny! By the way, which one's Pink" whilst their existing left back, Hugh Cartman said "Screw you guys, I'm going home".
Hofflemester concluded "Did we tell you the names of the game, boysh? We call it riding the gravy trainsh"

Sometimes my posts are like that, if I leave it to predictive text. A good post though.
When you think about all this, players may want to up and go if other clubs start waving the cash, especially if out of contract. Now the remaining players may think, hold up Championship football pays £xxxx as a minimum, I want some of that. You get a little bit of instability creeping in.
Yep I know we have budgets but I guess that's life, Nigel and Ben will have to deal with it come what may. My guess is they will look to the lower league than we will be for next season, all good stuff and a test on their recruiting skills.

If he goes , good luck to the lad. He's given his all to get us where we are in the football league. Nigel will find a suitable replacement I'm sure if that's needed

Doesn't surprise me as he's a cracking player. Really good athlete also. Really hope he signs for us again. We need to keep our best players!
