from the Fleetwood Weekly News;- MATCH REPORT: Burton Albion 2 Fleetwood Town 1 Fleetwood Town’s three match unbeaten run ended in disappointing fashion as they lost 2-1 to league leaders Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium. It was a forgettable performance by 10-men Town who despite failing to fire on all cylinders could have possibly nicked a vital point as misfiring Albion wasted a host of chances. It was all Burton in the opening 30 minutes as the League One table toppers looked to bounce back from a 2-0 midweek defeat against Bradford and avenge the 4-0 defeat at Town’s Highbury Stadium back in October. The host’s defence and midfield looked worthy of their league position but despite carving out a number of chances the Brewers lacked a clinical edge with 19 shots but only five on target. Forwards Stuart Beavon and Lucas Akins never looked likely of hitting the back of the net as Burton’s impressive engine powered them on. The Brewers dominated but failed to fire in front of goal until man-of-the-match Duffy showed his strike force how it is done with two fine strikes. The first came in the 25th minute as he arrowed the ball past the helpless Chris Maxwell. Town fought back in the 47th minute as super-sub Wes Burns converted Amari’i Bell’s cross from the left. I liked the look of Hamza and I think if Duffy had not scored twice then he would have got Man Of The Match today. For one so young, his composure, eye for a pass, strength in the challenge and overall youthful exuberance were great to see.
My only slight criticism, and it is something he will learn from as he plays more games, is when not to try and do too much when close to his own goal. A couple of times today, and it happened on Tuesday at Bradford too, he tried to turn or play a precise pass just outside his own penalty area and almost got us into trouble. Sometimes its about playing the percentages.
If he is this good at the age of just eighteen then he has the makings of one hell of a player over the next couple of years.

Hamza was Man of the Match for me. Ran the game from the middle of the park. Two goals for Mark Duffy but his delivery from corners & free kicks was abject to say the least.

I think we looked quite good against a pretty poor side. Fantastic that we came out swinging and took the game to them from the start. It is no surprise that some people jump on a new players bandwagon early on to claim their turf. Hamza had a very good game for a new young lad in L1, and I believe that he will be an asset as we push for auto promotion. He looked composed and comfortable on the ball and put in some good tackles. He also had some not so good periods but I think he is one for the future, somewhere.
But if anyone thinks Mark Duffy was not MOTM than I am totally gobsmacked. He could/should have had 4 goals. He won the game for us and was MOTM by a mile and a half! FFS, support our players! Moose was my 2nd choice, his pass to Akins to set up the first goal was sublime and he bossed Ameba (sic) all day! Butcher also had a very good game!
6 points up with 10 games to go. We probably need 15 more points from the 30 available and we have to play Millwall away and Wigan, Barnsley and Gills at home. It ain't over til the fat lady sings! But let's get behind 'our' players too.

Sounds like we made Fleetwood look poor. Their manager came looking for a win and their recent form was top 3 form so let's not put ourselves down either Peacock
It's not very often commentators would describe League One football as a joy to watch and that's what I heard said about us during the half time report
It's time we gave ourselves more credit full stop I think
Whatever happens from now on in

Well looking at those highlights both goals are great from Duffy
We need to get promoted this season because he's going to command a fee if we want him to stay with us next season. Indeed BCFC may want to use him themselves.
What an absolute idiot their player is kicking out like that. Wasn't anything to kick out about either!!

Great goal from duffy that.
The red card is hilarious. Especially given the chap had only been on for a minute!

Thoroughly enjoyable game to watch, we gave it everything, the score could have read 4 or 5-1 on another day. Agree about Choudhury, he looks very promising, his defensive work stood out too. Duffy was exceptional today and deserves MOTM. What I couldn't understand was the way the Fleetwood team set up when their keeper had the ball in hand. They all dropped back bar two forwards sometimes and sort of surrounded the penalty area, odd.

I agree that without Duffy's goals we may have struggled to win but I cannot see why that should make him man of the match. Peacock mentioned about Hamza having some not so good periods but seems to overlook those of Duffy - particularly his taking of corners which are consistently poor. The only time when they looked threatening was when Hamza was on hand for a short corner. We desperately need to find someone else to take the corners because we have had no success with any for many games now.The stats provided by radio Derby support this but regular fans would have known already. I cannot understand why it is not addressed on the pitch. I also agree that there were quite a few contenders for man of the match. I thought Hamza deserved it but fully expected Duffy to get it because of his goals. Finally I would never dream of being critical to a Brewers player at the game. We are there to support them and that is what we should do. I see nothing wrong with constructive criticism on sites like this. After all some managers are known to criticise individual players in the media.

"Sounds like we made Fleetwood look poor"... Oh deary me , you listened to the game ? Or forming an opinion based on comments on here? I'm certainly not putting us down, read my comment again, but in the first half Fleetwood were shockingly poor! IMO!
Hamza didn't run the game from midfield, he was the holding midfielder and had a good game but there were periods where he was invisible. Sorry! And don't blame Duffy because we don't have a setpiece taker, I am sure he is trying his best. Unfortunately our best setpiece taker couldn't find his way into the squad this season and is now at Oldham. Clough has to find a solution for that very key role!

Fleetwood are no mugs and have had some decent results recently, notably beating Gillingham and Coventry. I thought every Brewer played well today. Maybe that was the reason Fleetwood looked poor.

Got straight at them, fantastic work rate and the passing was spot on. Everybody played well and I have to agree with Peacock on this. It's those bits of individual class that win you the game as Duffy produced. I was in the away end with my team and the atmosphere was great, even better than last year, it's a good way of gaining more support for the future!

Excellent performance all around except for a mad thirty seconds shortly after the break, which meant we had to go and win the game again but what a great goal to win it.
I think anyone who scores twice and puts in a huge amount of effort, would be rightly very disappointed not to be man of the match, despite one or two moments of poor delivery on set pieces.
Hopefully that performance has squashed the moaners, going on about so called lack of effort and the management team not caring?
The league is a marathon over 46 games and no one has won a league in March but with a solid performance yesterday and a couple of good results elsewhere, we find ourselves even further ahead than before and the momentum firmly with us at the moment.
If we match or better Wigan over the next ten games, then we will win the league and/or gain promotion to the second tier of English football. (Two levels higher than I ever thought we could manage!)
It won't be easy and there will be further ups and downs but we have it there for the taking and a group of players and management who clearly feel passionate about that aim!

So when the reporter said at half time "Burton totally deserve this lead, they should be further ahead and their football has been a joy to watch" What he should have said is Fleetwood have been very poor and Burton are 1-0 up as a result? Who was right guys? I wasn't there - I'm just going on what I heard the reporter say? I would like to give the team credit for playing football that was joy to watch if that's the case?

And as I said before its so rare you hear something like that said about a League One football team it made my ears censored word up!
So did we play football that was a joy to watch or not?
