Don't think this will come as to much of a shock to most people given his lack of game time. Wish the lad all the best for the future though.

Wonder if the same might happen with Darius Charles. Don't think that we will ever get to see him play. No doubt he has been unlucky with his rehab but signing a player with a broken leg always seemed like a bit of an odd move. Joachim was a bit different but never (for one reason or another) got enough game time. Did wonder with him being on the bench of late wether Cloughie was going to give him a go but not to be. Turned out to be a latter day Steve Scoffham! All the best to the fella though.

For a club as financially focused as Burton - signing Charles seemed very strange at the time We need all our players to contribute as much as possible and signing one with a serious injury just doesn't fit with that IMO

I'll be fascinated to see where Joachim ends up.

I'll be fascinated to see where Joachim ends up. Not having given him a run in the team is a shame from my perspective; unfortunate for him that we'very had so much success whilst he's been here I suppose but he always seemed to me to have something about him.

The lad has been incredibly unlucky to hit the squad in such a rich vein of form, which never really gave him much chance?
Wish him all the best and as a free agent he has every chance of securing a deal somewhere else, maybe after the deadline has passed?

I wish the young gentleman all the best for his future, if the beautiful game doesn't work out for him, I'm sure I could secure him a job down in the pits with my good self

It's more likely that he wanted to take advange of the excellent treatment facilities at St. Georges.

Think whoever we signed him from wanted to keep him - doubt he would go anywhere injured when in demand without having a basic salary at least He must be costing us something Hopefully he's fully fit and contributing soon enough regardless We did talk about the fact he was a striker at some stage of his career

Stevenage cut him loose. Sure he is on a wage of some sort, it was a gamble but it could still work out. Jimmy always said he signed him as a CB, but he has played all over the pitch.

I think and hope Darius works out. He could come good in the next month or two, and become our preferred centre back next season for Shane.

It's a bit difficult to play when recovering from a broken leg and then when you tear a hamstring in training....

Why is it strange? It is a fact and I doubt very much that one of our marquee summer signings wasn't on anything but a very good contract. As I have mentioned before JFH made some great signings and some complete and expensive duffers. Charles, at the moment is in the latter bracket.

From what little time I saw Joachim play I was quite impressed by him. Shame it never really worked out for him here. I hope he gets fixed up with a club soon and gets more game time. Not sure if this will be another club in England (or the UK) though.

Or is that your opinion? Personally I wouldn't call signing a player recovering from a broken leg a marquee signing, I would call it a gamble.

Not sure if this will be another club in England (or the UK) though. Yeah, I think he added a different, physical, side to our attacking game. But it's hard to make an impression when you only get a few minutes here and there. In a starting formation that was always one striker, Beavon, it's nearly impossible to make an impact. He played 90 minutes against Greece (and scored) and 90 minutes against Spain so he has something to bring to the right team. I wish him well.

No that bit was an opinion (hence the preface "I doubt"). There is nothing in any of the press coverage to indicate any other kind of special 'pay as you play' kind of deal.

As I said I think St. Georges had something to do with it. There could have been a "we're not offering a lot of cash, but we can offer excellent rehab treatment program" discussion. As well as his self described amazing interview with Jimmy.
