Does anyone know why this happened today? I've never had a problem like today using my season ticket. Obviously a cock up with the turnstyles but why change it for today?

I went to one of the empty turnstiles with my season ticket (which is what I always do ), and was told I had to go through the turnstile with all the other people who had purchased tickets for the match from the club shop .
If this was some new idea they were trying out , it was a failure .There was obviously a lot extra Albion fans there today who do not usually come , and they may not want to come again if they are going to have to queue for 15 - 20 minutes to get in .
Sorry to say it was a total shambles .

Nearer to ko they opened all the turnstiles I believe, someone told me. I had the same thing told me, go to the the other turnstile. At other matches I had even handed my season ticket in at the kids turnstile if empty, why the change today and a queue formed??

Sorry to say it was a total shambles . Same thing happened last season at one of the busier games. Also people who had pre-purchased match tickets that day had to get in line with those buying at the turnstile??? Totally nuts! As well, if you buy a half-season season ticket now you will be paying less per game that we who bought season tickets last summer? Who plans these things? It would make loyal supporters a whole lot happier if they were treated as such. Reminds me of renewing your car insurance and a new policy buyer gets a better deal than they offer you! What up?

The half season ticket offer is not as good as the offer they made for the loyal fans that had season tickets last year.
No idea why they did the turnstile thing today, it works really well normally. Why change it?

Were these turnstiles manned and just accepting walk ups or did they simply not have enough turnstile operators therefore they literally couldn't accept anyone through them? Also was it in both Popside and west stand or just one of them? Seems a bit strange to limit the access to the ground when you've got a high chance of a big crowd...

They were all manned, when I got there at 14.54 it seemed to have changed, I went through the U16s as usual, but there was a queue going on and sign above some turnstiles - some were cash only some ticket only... I guess they were trying to restrict the number of people raking cash, who knows. Frustrating though, especially for the season ticketers who as Peacock says are the loyal ones who front up early doors!

Bizarre set up.
Seeing as you mentioned the dedicated "U16" turnstile it got me thinking that I can't actually remember the last time I saw a turnstile at another ground dedicated to one age group. Seems pointless and surely we should be simplifying things. In the terraced stands just make one turnstile cash only and the others for all other tickets of which there will be more people anyway. Then you've got less complexity with the cash you're handling and way more capacity for season ticket/ticket holders.
....or maybe I've missed the point completely and it'll all go back to normal for Swindon anyway...

That is exactly what happened but the problem was when I arrived there were 3 turnstiles manned and empty ( cash, under 16's and seniors ) and 1 with a huge queue (tickets only) obviously a new idea that didn't work and it sounds like they realised and went back to the usual system nearer to kick off. Its not exactly rocket science to be able to take cash and tickets at the same turnstile, I'm all for change if it is improvement but on this occasion I'm afraid it was a failure Edit:- sorry Spence its not exactly what happened they did still have the under 16's gate which I agree with' they just for some reason stopped taking tickets at any turnstile.

I , like others , walked past the queue and went to the under sixteens turnstile with my ticket , only to be told it couldn't be accepted as this turnstile was cash only ! Insane. I then walked to the back of the queue. At about 14.45, when some idiot finally realised that the queue was almost at princess way, they changed their minds and opened all turnstiles to ticket holders. Master stroke that.! Bloody idiots.

Ah right, ok. From the sounds of it then it was a failed experiment and whoever is in charge of this type of thing on matchday will have fed some info back to the club and normal service will be resumed on the 28th. Hopefully...

I have now sent an email to the club suggesting they revert to the previous system that worked well.

We asked if Ben jnr was about when we got in the bar. Nowhere to be seen too busy, it was a busy day in the hospitality suites apparently. He does pop down to the bar occasionally. Any way we vented our feelings (politely I add) to the staff about the mounting queues outside, but of course not there problem I guess. Does seem odd that they let the queues mount before realising the problem, just gets folks backs up unnecessarily.

Let us know if you get a response swaddy lad The club kindly responded for which I have thanked them. Hello Dave Thank you for your email drawing our attention to the queues at the turnstiles at the Doncaster rovers match on Sat 19th Dec. We can confirm that this was in fact brought to our attention pre-match and we therefore took the necessary action to make corrections. Please note that you are entitled to use any manned turnstile as printed on your ticket for the relevant stand. Kind regards. I can't see on my ticket about the any manned turnstile but hopefully it is all sorted.

A confusing reply, if the last sentence is correct, what the hell was going on, when fans were being blocked from using all turnstiles.

Somebody must have given an instruction to the people on the gates. .? Hopefully it won't happen again. Porks
