BURTON 2 (Naylor 84, El-Khayati, 90)
PORT VALE 0
TWO goals in the last six minutes condemned Port Vale to a 2-0 defeat at Burton this afternoon, just as it seemed the Valiants would battle out a draw.
The home side had a man extra for 52 minutes after Uche Ikpeazu was sent off for a second booking, on 26 minutes. But Vale held firm and their 1,500 travelling fans were urging them to go on and claim a winner when Burton's Robbie Weir was sent off on 78 minutes.

Instead. Tom Naylor headed home on 84 minutes before Nasser El-Khayati jinked through the defence to slot the ball past Jak Alnwick on 90 minutes.
Vale boss Rob Page had made three changes to his starting line up as injured duo Enoch Andoh and Chris Birchall missed out and Remie Streete was dropped to the bench. Richard Duffy returned to the side after serving a one-game ban while Louis Dodds and Michael O'Connor were also recalled.
Byron Moore had been in contention for a recall but was ruled out with a groin strain.
Vale began with a five-man midfield, with Anthony Grant protecting the back four, Foley and O'Connor just ahead of him and Dodds and Daniel on the right and left respectively.
Daniel walloped a 20–yard strike over the bar after just 12 seconds, but Vale had made a decent start and threatened on five minutes when Grant won a free kick on the right. Foley swung over the free kick but McGivern failed to make a clean connection with his header.
Dodds lofted a lovely through ball to pick out Ikpeazu's run behind the defence. However, as Ikpeazu stretched to bring the ball down, John Mousinho was able to nick the ball away from him.
However, the home side spurned a great chance when Timmy Thiele got free on the left. Mark Duffy was unmarked and screaming for the ball at the back post, but Thiele mis-hit his low cross straight to Alnwick.
Lucas Akins fired over from the edge of the area before Ikpeazu collected his first booking for a foul on Weir as they challenged for a header. Six minutes later the striker was off. He cut into the area from the right and went tumbling as he was challenged by a defender.
Referee David Coote, not only turned down the penalty, he waved a second yellow card at Ikpeazu, this time for a dive.
Page switched to 4-4-1 with Sam Foley moving to the left and Colin Daniel going up front as the lone striker.
Vale threatened as Dickinson won a free kick on the left. Foley swung the ball towards he far post but keeper Jon McLaughlin tipped it away.
However, Burton gradually made their extra man count as they put Vale under pressure.
McGivern was booked for a foul on Duffy and, from the free kick, Mousinho should have done better than head over at the back post from El-Khayati's free kick.
Tom Naylor's shot was blocked by McGivern in the area before Mark Duffy's strike looped off McGivern Naylor at the back post. He was unmarked but got no power on his header straight at Alnwick from 10 yards.
The referee was booed off by Vale fans at half time, and by Ikpeazu who had returned to the touchline to remonstrate with the official before he was led away by Valiants goalkeeping coach Dave Timmins.
Half Time
Burton 0-0 Port Vale
Richard Duffy's free kick was only headed clear to O'Connor but the midfielder's 20-yard volley just cleared the bar.
But Purkiss had to be alert at the other end to get in front of Mark Duffy and stop the attacking midfieder from heading home Naylor's cross at the back post.
Mousinho's low strike from 20-yards took a deflection but was confidently saved by Alnwick on 55 minutes as the Brewers struggled to find gaps in the Vale defence.
Duffy went into the book for a foul on the edge of the area before home side made a 59th minute change as Akins was replaced by Zeli Ismail.
Vale's travelling supporters were getting behind their side, no doubt encouraged that the 10 men had suffered few alarms.
O'Connor and Dodds blocked shots in the area as the Brewers tried to blast their way through. Edwards's long-range strike was deflected over by McGivern before Mousinho's powerful low strike was also deflected over as the Valiants held firm.
Duffy 25-yard strike was touched over by Alnwick at full stretch, before Thiele turned sharply 20 yards out before firing into the side netting on 73 minutes. Thiele lashed a near-post shot into the side netting after Ismail's cross had bounced clear, but Vale were still under pressure and relieved to see Mark Duffy's 15-yard strike deflected wide by McGivern.
Robbie Weir sent a low, 25-yard strike flashing wide before Page made a 78th-minute change as Daniel was replaced by Hooper.
Within a minute Hooper had nicked the ball away from a defender. Foley was first to the rebound, but fouled by a lunging challenge from Weir which earned the Burton midfielder a red card.
The home side came close on 83 minutes after winning a corner on the right. The ball was flicked on to Mousinho at the back post, but his effort was cleared off the line by Grant.
But Vale conceded on 84 minutes when they failed to pick up Naylor in the area. A ball was swung in from the right and Naylor stooped to head past Alnwick from close range.
Page made his second change as Ryan Lloyd replaced Foley on 86 minutes before Ajay Leitch-Smith replaced O'Connor on 89.
But worse was to come for Vale on 90 minutes as Dodds hada penalty appeal waved away and the home side broke switfly. El-Khayati got the ball on the left, beat Purkiss and then fired low across Alnwick into the far corner to put the game beyond the Valiants.
