It was pretty inevitable with signing of Binnom-Williams. (Left back or centre) We seem to have a surfeit of centre backs (Tafty's preferred position) Personally I thought the boy Tom Flannaghan (was it?) (trialist) done good against Premiership Leicester on Tuesday but do we need another one? Perhaps JFH thinks we do or why give him a trial?

Tafty signed an improved contract with the Brewers yesterday morning before instructing his agent to get him out on loan & get game time

Personally I think he's a great footballing defender and big future. I've never seen him hoof a ball forward.
I have said before Mike Whitlow (who knows all about defending) said he needs to develop a nasty streak as he was too nice
If he has signed a new contract with us I am pleased and if he can add a nasty streak etc on loan then come back better for us even better

Tafty signed an improved contract with the Brewers yesterday morning before instructing his agent to get him out on loan & get game time I'm happy to defer to your superior or inside knowledge banksy but I would have thought the Club would have the say on whether and where Taft went out on loan, rather than the player or his agent and I can't understand why the Club would have given him an improved contract if he was about to go out on loan.......if as you say the loan was arranged by the player and his agent after the Club had given him an improved contract, would the club be happy with that? - improved in cash terms or number of years. Something in what you say doesn't make too much sense to me ............

sounds like the club wouldn't let him out on loan unless he signed a new deal 1st , young players need game time & I presume he's thinking he will play a bit part off the bench , clubs like ours need to cover themselves from young players going out on loan doing well & leaving at the end of the contracts for next to nothing

Tafty signed an improved contract with the Brewers yesterday morning before instructing his agent to get him out on loan & get game time If this is fact then I'm happy with that. I think he needs to play and improve, but I don't think he will get enough game time with us this season in order to improve. I would like it if we keep him for another year and see how he progresses. Hopefully he will get playing time at Cambridge.

Despite E7#9's disparaging view of Cambridge, I don't think he could have gone anywhere better - accessible enough to his Leicester home and should be pushing for promotion next season - I only hope he can force his way into their side and doesn't end up warming their bench instead of ours....... And I get the idea of the club covering itself to get some money in, if he leaves us and moves on after a successful loan........but who can guarantee it will be successful? And if it isn't, we have a player on our books for another year or two when he's perhaps deemed not good enough for League Two, while the Brewers have moved on to the Championship.....!!

He's an England youth international etc
He could become a valuable asset
He's under contract if he does well on loan he either comes back to us or he may attract a cash deal
Meanwhile another club pays his wages whilst he's on loan
Don't forget just a 100k transfer fee would be a years profit for us normally

I think there may be a few disappointed players this year , our squad is getting bigger by the week & they carn't all play , last seasons small tight knit was was a real success story , only time will tell

Again, not a surprise. But Cambridge? Really? Bit tinpot. TINPOT?!! Coming from a BURTON fan... Hahaha.... Please remember the relative histories and support of both teams before you spout such nonsense. Tinpot.... That word was invented for Burton.... Apologies to all decent Burton fans but this guy needs to be put straight.

Quite frankly.... TINPOT

Someone's not got over the last game of last season yet............mind you I can understand why ...........I think it'll take many seasons for most Cambridge fans to get that one out of their system - some may never do so I fear.......

FWIW I think you've got yourself a decent loan signing in George Taft. And I still like reading E7#9's posts.

I stand corrected... I know you won the conference the year after loosing out to us in the play offs and had that as 08/09....Got my years mixed up... Like to forget about those conference years if possible.

Anyway just be grateful we are lending you our surplus players. We've got a few more that would improve you IMO.
What other positions do you need our help with?
Taft is a decent start and I think you will like him
