Update from your favourite village social club.
We will be open tonight from 6.00pm. New bars installation is partial...
The show must go on as they say. Please take extra care this evening as things are still out of place here, there and everywhere.

Oh and Jo's famous homemade cobs!

Finally got myself down to Stretton Social Club yesterday for some pre-match shandies (I was driving unfortunately but my companion therefore didn't have to suffer the lemonade dilution injustice and was very complimentary of the Bass). Been meaning to get down there all season given the posts on here and found it ideal; can only apologise that I couldn't pop back in afterwards for some CLAs! Will be back in 2016/17 (great place to hide from the barrage of away fans we may be faced with all being well next few days).

It was good to meet you and you are very welcome. I suspect by next season the transformation will be almost complete. Here's hoping I don't see you for a play off game

I was actually thinking the other day Funky, perhaps might need to keep it a little more hush hush from away fans next season? Not that I'd want to see you lose business, just that it is a lovely little oasis near the ground for those that enjoy a quiet, unhurried and relaxed pint before the match.

We're not geared up for away fans to be honest and it is a 'family club' so we won't change that. Chasing the ££££s is not always the best option. An oasis for a quiet, unhurried and relaxed pint... I like that

I see the Great Northern have announced that they are going to be a 'home fans only' pub next season. The Beech will be the designated away pub.
I have messaged Norah to suggest she has a sticky thread that away fans can refer to to get all the up to date information on where they can go etc. This hopefully will allow the other local emporia to share the information of what they have to tempt Brewers fans through the door.
Your local social club is also staying home fans only but more info on that closer to the start of the season. In the meantime Yorkshire are giving Lancashire the runaround in the one day cup and there is some European footy on the tellybox...

Hi all, the Meadow Lane Sports Bar at Notts County FC is open for away fans only this Saturday, 10am - 3pm, 2 minute walk from the Forest ground, it has a great bar facility, food and there is parking available on site for £4. Just FYI there is a EDL march planned for Saturday in the city so some pubs may be more restrictive than normal. Hope to see you all on Saturday.

As you can see, we have a sticky thread to help guide away fans to the best pubs, unfortunately it does not seems to be working very well.
Here at Stretton Social Club, we are obliged to be a home fans only venue. However, we will still be welcoming to all home fans with the usual excellent range of reasonably priced ales and lagers.
You can also park for free and wander down to the turnstiles, it is only a ten minute walk.
We look forward to welcoming a new group of regulars this season and should you enjoy it then membership is very reasonable too. If we are required to go 'members only' at any stage in the season, this will be worth your while.
Saturday we have the return of "Jo's freshly made cobs", plus Sky and BT Sport matches before and after the game.
Thank you and I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday.

Really looking forward to both the match and the refurbished club prior to the game. What guest ales have we got for our pleasure tomorrow ?

Come on Ian, make my drive up worthwhile and tell us it's Draught Bass.

I might be tempted by the Bass too, it's getting the others to get their backsides over there.

Ha ha, it is Courage Directors at the moment, very palatable. Not sure if we will have another available for tomorrow.

As nostalgia ain't what it used to be...any thoughts on our best ever away pubs. For me Woodies at AFC Wimbledon, Derby Tup at Chasvegas and Red Lion? at Histon aren't a bad top 3.
