Go on Funky tell me it's Draught Bass and I might be tempted to drive up. Then I have to convince the ticket office that a down south postcode is an Albion supporter.

It is Draught Bass and we are arranging a delivery from the Old Cottage too, so there will be a 2nd guest ale, probably Redwood. Bass is proving very popular on match days, I am currently fighting to stop it becoming a permanent fixture, it would not be a guest if we did

Apologies if I bring the celebrations down to earth for a minute but I think recognition is required. We are all aware of the lady from Winshill, Donna, whose family were so warmly hosted by BAFC recently at a match at The Pirelli. Donna lost her battle with cancer last week sadly. www.burtonmail.co.uk/Tributes-pour-brave-Burton-mum-Donna-loses-cancer/story-28754654-detail/story.htmlDonna's friend setup a Trust Fund for her 4 children through the Just Giving website. There have been many generous donations and a raffle was held on Sunday at the Winshill Community Centre that raised over £3K. The company her husband works for gave £1K. This entry on the Just Giving website shows a very generous donation of £455 from The Stretton Social Club!! Well done! Does anyone know any details on this donation? Feb 16, 2016 With love to Donna, John and all the family, from all at Stretton Social Club #cherishthememories xxx £455 Donations can still be made at: crowdfunding.justgiving.com/leah-mclaren

I do indeed Peacock.
Donna was well known to me personally and many at our club. I remember her coming into the club as a young girl with her family. It is the life of a social club that many people return once they have their families and Donna did too. Donna and her husband John were members of the club and John is a valued member of our Sunday pool team. Donna, John and the kids were and are, part of our family.
Donna fought her cancer with such bravery, good spirit and optimism. As recently as Christmas just gone, she was positively looking forward to a bone marrow transplant as the chemo had gone so well. Tragically, before the transplant could take place the cancer returned and despite another session of chemo it became clear there was nothing that could be done.
The day that Donna and family had at Burton Albion was, I understand, one of the best ever, her best friend (a former photographer at the Albion) arranged it. What the people at Albion did for Donna is absolutely sensational. So much more than just a day out and so much more than has been made public. That is why our football club is so special and that the people that run it are even more special. The family went on holiday to Centreparcs straight after the day out at Albion.
As a social club we had a fundraising night, hence the donation to Donna's fund. We are proud that we did, but that is what social clubs do, we look after our own. The fundraising included a raffle, donation of the proceeds of our weekly Open the Box and most importantly just donation boxes on the bar.
I hope people continue to donate to the fund, there are four young children who have lost their mum, they have the memories now.
This story is definitely not about our club. I endorse Peacock's sharing of the just giving page. We can give Donna's children something in the future and we can reinforce the memories she had with them.

The draught Bass and Old Cottage Redwood beers were in excellent condition. Cheese & Onion Cob was also great. Good value, nice place to have a beer before the match away from the crowds. I'll be popping in again certainly. Nice one Funky.

The Bass was excellent. On the way to becoming the Woodies (AFC W) for Burton. No finer compliment.
