League One transfer news round-up By Burton Mail | Posted: June 15, 2015 WIGAN Athletic have signed Craig Morgan. The 29-year-old Rotherham United centre-back will join up with the Latics when his contract expires with the South Yorkshire club. Morgan now joins David Perkins and Richard O'Donnell at the DW Stadium. Welsh international Morgan has agreed a two year deal with the option of a third. Sheffield United manager Nigel Adkins is remaining tight-lipped about a possible move for Leeds United striker Billy Sharp. Adkins has managed Sharp twice during his career, once while managing Scunthorpe United and again when Adkins was in charge of Southampton. Adkins said " Billy is a Leeds United player as it stands. "Yes I did have him at Scunthorpe, I actually sold him to Sheffield United, and I managed to bring him in at Southampton, where he scored those valuable goals that helped get us into the Premier League. "I took him on loan for a period too at Reading. He is a player that I know, a great lad and scores goals. "But he is a Leeds United football player, and I think, just at this moment in time, and I know everyone is going to talk about when are you going to sign a player, it's better for me to keep my counsel." Walsall are interested in Argentine midfielder Emmanuel Ledesma. The winger has been released by Middlesbrough. It could be the 27-year-old's third spell at Walsall after he was signed by Boro from the Midlands club back in 2012 – he was then sent back on loan to Walsall and could be set to link up with them again. Scunthorpe United are in talks to sign free agent and former Swindon Town striker Andy Williams The 28-year-old was surprisingly released by Swindon after snubbing a new deal at the club, despite having a great season at the club, netting 21 times in League One. Peterborough United's Jack Payne could be set for a return to Gillingham. The 23-year-old spent five years at the Priestfield Stadium and scored five goals in more than 100 appearances. Payne joined Peterborough in June 2013 for an undisclosed fee and has made 72 appearances for the Posh. The Peterborough captain has been put up for sale along with six others at London Road following a disappointing season in League One. Posh have named Dave Robertson as the club's new manager following a caretaker spell in charge after Darren Ferguson left. Tuesday's League One transfer news round-up By Burton Mail | Posted: June 16, 2015 WIGAN Athletic are set to make another bid for Chesterfield winger Sam Clucas League One rivals Scunthorpe United are also interested and could rival Wigan's offer for the winger. The 23-year-old had a fantastic season for Chesterfield in League One last season as the Spireites made it to the play-offs where they were beaten by Preston North End in the semi-final. Clucas (pictured) has also been attracting interest from Cardiff, Reading and Leeds. The Latics had a reported £500,000 bid turned down by the Spireites last month. Peterborough United have signed Cliftonville striker Joe Gormley. The 24-year-old has signed a three-year deal with Dave Robertson's side, having joined for an undisclosed fee. Gormley scored 41 times in 48 appearances for Cliftonville in the Northern Irish Premiership last season, adding to a fantastic goal record of 85 in 133 games since joining the Belfast club in 2011. Last year he became the first player in the Reds' history to score more than 30 goals in two separate campaigns, and has been the NIFL Premiership top scorer for the past two seasons. Before joining Cliftonville, the 2014 NI Football Writers' Player of the Year netted 61 goals in 24 appearances for non-league Crumlin Star. Coventry City have joined the race for Huddersfield Town's Oscar Gobern. The former Southampton midfielder is also attracting interest from fellow League One side Walsall. The 24-year-old is out-of-contract at Huddersfield and manager Chris Powell is keen to keep him at the John Smith's Stadium. Gobern joined the Terriers from the Saints for £250,000 in 2011 and has gone on to make 79 appearances for Town. Birmingham City are set to make a move for out-of-contract Shrewsbury Town defender Jermaine Grandison. The 24-year-old, who can play at both centre back and right-back, is rumoured to be a target for former Burton Albion boss Gary Rowett as he looks to reshape the Birmingham City squad. Burton Mail transfer info. 16 June 2015 ROB Page believes new signing Remie Streete can be an important player at PORT VALE. Defender Streete spent time on loan last season from Newcastle United and, following his Magpies release, Page made the 20-year-old one of his top targets this summer. The Vale manager has also secured the services of former Everton midfielder Sam Kelly and Page says he and Streete can become key figures at Vale Park. Page said: "We're really pleased to have signed up Remie. He's a very good player with a lot of potential – something we saw when he was last with us. "Remie, along with Sam, is now part of the bright future we are building at this football club. "We were very impressed when he was last with us and we made him one of our top summer targets so to have him in the building is brilliant." BLACKPOOL have signed former Aberdeen left-back Clark Robertson on a two-year deal. The 21-year-old was released by the Dons at the end of the season and becomes Neil McDonald's fourth signing of the summer. McDonald is looking to revamp the squad after a mass exodus left the Seasiders following their relegation from the Championship last season. Robertson said: "I've been at Aberdeen since I was a boy at eight-years-old, I came through the youth system there and made my debut at 16. It feels strange to leave but it's something I'm looking forward to. "My ambition when I came through the youth system at Aberdeen was to get down to England. I want to force my way into the team here and see where it takes me." He was out for ten months during the 2013/14 season after undergoing knee surgery and then suffered a thigh muscle tear playing for Scotland Under-21s against Slovakia in September last year, leading him to make just one league appearance for the Dons during the last campaign. COVENTRY CITY boss Tony Mowbray has reportedly held talks to sign out-of-contract German striker Nick Proschwitz. The 28-year-old had a loan spell with the Sky Blues towards the back end of last season, but only managed one goal in nine appearances. The 28-year-old is currently a free agent after being told he is no longer wanted at Brentford, but Mowbray is confident the former Hull City striker is capable of scoring 20 goals in League One. "I have been pleased with Proschwitz who I think is a goalscorer" said the Coventry boss, "and with the right ammunition would score 20 goals a season. Not that we've seen that on the pitch but I have seen it every day in training and he would score goals." Since joining Hull from German club SC Paderborn 07 for £2.6 million in 2012, Proschwitz has struggled to hold down a regular first team spot wherever he has been. SCUNTHORPE have cancelled the contract of winger Jennison Myrie-Williams. The winger had fallen out of favour by the end of this season, having spent the final part of the 2014/15 campaign on loan at Tranmere Rovers where he scored three goals in 18 appearances. The former Port Vale man has been released from his contract after only joining the club last summer and has been told he will not see out the remaining year that he had left on the deal. PETERBOROUGH UNITED'S latest recruit Joe Gormley has confidence in his ability to be a success during his first campaign in English football. Posh snapped up Gormley after he netted 41 goals for Cliftonville in Northern Ireland's top flight last season. The 25-year-old striker has agreeda three-year-deal and he insists that he has nothing to fear. "It's a dream I have had to come over the water and show what I can do in England. I can't wait to get started," said Gormley. "I am obviously sad to be leaving Cliftonville because I have been there a long time and grew up just around the corner. I scored 41 goals last season, which was my best scoring record, and hopefully I can transfer that form into The Football League. At the end of the day, the size of the goals do not change." I was surprised to see Chris Hargreaves sacked by Torquay, (technically on gardening leave), but replaced as manager by ex Mansfield manager Paul Cox. Their fans board are assuming he and his assistants were offered reduced terms to force them out on a drip feed payments system, rather than a single large payout.

league One transfer news from the ?Burton Mail (sorry about the pasting was done by my iPad) Comments (0) BLACKPOOL have signed striker Jack Redshaw from Morecambe for an undisclosed fee. The 24-year-old has signed a two-year deal at Bloomfield Road with the option of a further year. "I like the way the gaffer (Neil McDonald) is trying to build the club and wants it moving in the right direction," said Redshaw. "I think the time is right to step up into League One. I'm confident in my own ability and want to be successful with Blackpool." Thailand is one of the best expat destinations ... but why? Thailand is one of the best expat destinations ... but why? The Tangerines have also completed the signing of Liverpool academy player Lloyd Jones on a season-long loan. The centre-half spent spells on loan at League Two sides Accrington Stanley and Cheltenham Town last season. Jones has represented England up to under-20 level and made the bench for the senior side when they visited Fulham in May 2013. Shrewsbury Town have laughed off a bid from Swindon Town for defender Connor Goldson. Town have tabled an offer for the 22-year-old but the Shrews have come out fighting with a statement from chief executive Matt Williams. He told the Shropshire Star: "To say that the offer from Swindon was derisory is an understatement, and it was rejected forthwith. "I had to check the calendar to see that it wasn't April Fool's Day. In fact, if it had have been April 1 we'd have all fallen for it because I thought it was someone winding me up. "We thank Swindon for their offer and wish them well in their recruitment for the summer and look forward to seeing them in December. "But if they think Shrewsbury Town is a small club with no ambition that will sell their prized assets on the cheap, then they're sadly mistaken." Bradford City have signed Peterborough United striker Luke James on a season-long loan. There is no recall clause but the 20-year-old will not be allowed to play against the Boro in League One this season. The 19-year-old striker has ended speculation over his future by committing himself to the Blades under new manager Nigel Adkins. De Girolamo has the option of a third year at Bramall Lane. "It would be fair to say last season didn't go to plan for me personally," said De Girolamo. "But having thought at length about the situation and having discussed it with my representatives and family over the summer, we all came to the conclusion that my future remains with Sheffield Unitedfor at least the next two years and hopefully beyond." The 32-year-old was a free agent following an unsuccessful season at Coventry, where he made just seven appearances. He has put pen to paper on a contract for the 2015-16 campaign and becomes the fifth summer signing at Gigg Lane. Scunthorpe have made former Stoke midfielder Jamie Ness their ninth summer signing. Stuart Pearce: England legend signs for Longford AFC England football legend Stuart Pearce is set to come out of retirement aged 53 in a bid to transform the fortunes of a struggling non-league side. Nicknamed Psycho, the former Nottingham Forest defender played in a World Cup semi-final in 1990 but has signed for a team dubbed "the worst in the UK". Longford AFC, based in Gloucestershire, have lost all 18 games this season, scoring one goal and letting in 179. Pearce has been told he still needs to pay his £5 a game sub. "I started out in non-league football playing for Wealdstone before joining Coventry City," he said. Steve Presley resigns as Fleetwood manager. The speculation is he didn't have the power to sign his own players, so he's gone.

Well one game in, Gary Bowyer resigns at Blackpool, still a troubled club and it seems doesn't get any better.

Ex Brewer Darren Moore has been sacked by West Brom. Fourth in the championship isn't good enough they reckon.
