Have just realised that Southend Wycome is at 5.30 this afternoon. Any comments? My quick comments are that I would prefer Wycombe because.. I respect Garesth Ainsworth for what he has done and if we are , heaven forefend, are in a relegation scrap next year then with budget constrictions etc I believe that they are more likely to cope less well with the jump than Southend and so are more likely to finish below us in the League. A bit cruel but pragmatic,..

Wycombe for me. Closer to home but more importantly a much friendlier welcome from the stewards, notices thanking us for travelling and of course the not insignificant issue of better pubs.

Has anyone else noticed how much coverage the League 2 Play Off Final is getting on the media, as in Talk Sport and 5 Live. Southends manager, who's name I wish not to mention has been on the radio more times than the presenters. I don't remember Burton Albion vs Fleetwood getting quite as much. Perhaps it's just me but sometimes I think we don't get the praise or coverage we deserve.

Wycombe for me, Ainsworth has worked wonders with a tight budget and small squad. Plus they will be an easier 6 points for us.

Here's another reason I don't want southend
Straight from the kick-off, Wycombe's Sam Saunders takes a whack on the calf from Will Atkinson and requires treatment.
Well, that's quite incredible. Sam Saunders' play-off final is over after about five seconds because of injury and he looks absolutely distraught. Long-serving midfielder Matt Bloomfield is on to replace Saunders.
Southend United 0-0 Wycombe Wanderers

Wycombe WINs on an own-goal by Bentley of Sarfend. Final 1-0 Wycombe.
Blimy - still six weeks or so until BAFC kicks off. Waiting is hard to do !!

It is rather pleasant though watching the agonies of other teams and not going through it ourselves, especially whilst having the odd half of beer in a Derby pub.

Sorry, sarfend scored in the 122nd minute. Going to kicks from the spot

The odds / gods will favour the Essex side... To concede two minutes into injury time. I'm afraid it's Southendfor me now... Hope I'm wrong.

Congratulations to Southend, would have preferred Wycombe but that is football.
Anyway that is Ainsworth out of the running for manager of the season… Or is it? He would have been mine if they had won it but I don't think he should get it now.

I would vote for Ainsworth, I think he should, and will, win it esp. Considering his budget and squad size. He worked wonders after avoiding relegation by goal difference last season.

Sickening to see Southend's gamesmanship prevailed right to the death with Bentley's antics.

Well, that has taught me NOT to depend on the BBC to get a footy score correct.

Well, that has taught me NOT to depend on the BBC to get a footy score correct. Actually I was following the BBC match report and they got it right at least. Don't worry about it texas we all get things wrong at times, just be thankful you haven't been slated for a meaningless faux pas.
