I think you will all agree that many of our opponents fans refer to Burton Albion as "tinpot" whereas previously we were "little Burton". Well after last nights home match against Carlisle our average league attendance this season stands at 3,660. With tickets selling well for the last home game versus Northampton it is likely our seasons average will top 4,000. Which in my opinion is anything but "tinpot".

I have heard similar comments about announced attendances being lower than actual. Tickets, season and match day, are printed with numbers are they not? And the turnstiles count the numbers going through. Any auditor could easily confirm the numbers. So could they fiddle the numbers?

In the past when I've suggested our crowds look to be visibly far more than announced I've been warned away from discussing
So I'm thinking it's maybe possible they are but we can't really discuss this kind of thing on a forum
Which is fair enough
But if we are getting more than we announce then we are obviously now an even bigger club than we will ever realise

Excellent news about our average attendance improving. Hopefully then come back and get behind us next season.
"One Football Forum" seem to like making dodgy allegations as to why we don't publish attendance figures. Need to tread very carefully around that one!

Some of the fans slagging off our attendances don't even look at towns and cities population eg.Luton population 250,000 and get an average 7,000 at home we get average 3,000 and our population is around 60,000 clueless.

From here (http://www.worldfootball.net/attendance/eng-league-two-2014-2015/1/) we've got 68721 fans through the gates in 22 home games, so an average of 3124. To get an average over 4000 for the season, we'd have to get 23279 in for the Northampton game. I suspect the police wouldn't be keen on that happening. Not sure where your 3660 came from but if it's correct and for league games only, we'd need 12000 in for the last game to hit a 4000 average.

I did those calculations myself, just add up the attendance figures and divide by the number of games.

tm may be using gates from Wigan, QPR which would boost the average?
I don't see why the topic cannot be debated, to suggest that we shouldn't (and then delete your post in that regard) implies the club are guilty of something?

Good point, check with admin, they are the primary ones in the firing line if people post stuff which gets them into trouble (and the poster of course).

Did you check with the admin funky before you suggested tm remove the comment about gates, and then delete your post? All quite strange to me! As you have said before, it's a public forum. I think reasonable debates should be allowed, otherwise it's a type of censorship by hiding what should be, and is, public info. And you are implying that people would disrespect the club by debating the topic. I think my initial comment supported the club in the topic. If people start talking nonsense then the admin can interject.

The last time this was discussed back in February admin did delete a thread at the request of the creator and asked us to be careful about what we posted. burtonbrewers.proboards.com/thread/1596/important-adminForum owners have been sued before, paid damages required to reveal identities of posters. Blackpool Fc are currently suing a fans site. Terraceman made his own choice as did I and I don't think I suggested he remove any of his post, just that the second part of it could lead to problematic discussion. Go and have the healthy discussion on Facebook, that forum is moderated by some people who work for the club, see how long the debate lasts there should anyone suggest that attendance figures are not always accurate.

On a separate and very positive note.
On Wednesday I sat at far end of the stand next to the Carlisle fans. After first half finished we decided to move to the home end standing as we knew that most of the game was going to be down there.
To get there we had to walk across just in front of the hospitality suite and private boxes as the walkway is blocked near the tunnels.
It was great to see that the large hospitality room was really busy and ALL of the boxes were full and buzzing
A great sign that we have a strong commercial team at the club
We do so many things so well
At my most local club - Forest barely half the exec boxes are used on any given match apart from Derby and that's at Championship level
Food looked good when I looked in - I might try the box hospitality at some stage next season

A good way to judge our crowds visibly is to know we have 2034 seats If they are ever full it normally means the rest of the ground is also very busy I'm assuming the stand opposite the seats holds at least 2000 as well. Probably more. On wednesday I would visibly estimate we had 1700 in the seats at least and similar number opposite But as has been said before visible estimations can be miles off so I'm not suggesting foul play
