Damien McCrory is at Notts County having a trial . That has really shocked me. Damo is better than Conference football surely.

Yes but Notts County are a big club, well supported and I suspect pay similar to us. Good luck to him. We’ve yet to replace him.

We don't disagree much when it comes to football and player judgement IL but I've a different view here. I'll always be grateful to Damo for the part he played but toward the end of his time with us he became a bit of a liability. He couldn't get fit, he couldn't stay fit and he cost us a lot of goals getting caught woefully out of position. Then he'd have the occasional game where he remembered he was actually a decent full back. I wish him well at Notts but in my opinion his time with us was up.

You’ll also know Broomo that in my 15+ years of posting I’m not one for hiding behind the Internet and slagging off current players!
I completely agree with the decision to let Damo move on. He was part of a fantastic side over our promotion years but sides/squads have to evolve that’s part of football and so good luck to him.
My suggestion that he has yet to be replaced is I guess my polite way of saying I’m not impressed with the current incumbent!!

You know what Broomo and Insideleft, you are both absolutely spot on. I have taken off my rose tinted spectacles and I agree, he was struggling with fitness and application towards the end of his time at the club. Sometimes a fresh start somewhere else is actually rejuvenating for players and I hope that is the case for Damo.

Really sounds like "I want better..." Mark Duffy as at Burton. I think in Chris Wilder as with NC they have their limits that they will go to and won't budge on it. No denying he's a good player and did very well at the Blades, can't see him wanting anything lower than Championship level at the very least.

I feel bad because I have 3 lasting memories of Damo and they are all a bit negative/harsh, even though he was a key part of a great team. They are (i) that he used to come back from the summer carrying a bit of timber and not shed it fully til about October (not sure whether this was actually the case), (ii) that he was hugely out of his depth positioning wise etc. by the end (why shouldn’t he gave been though, victim of his own success playing at a much higher level), and (iii) that he used to miss penalties (but I bet if you looked it up he only took a couple!)

Can't believe you have 3 memories and 1 isn't his ability to find the near post defender from corners?!?

And spent a year talking about football whilst (apparently) he could have spent a year playing football and talking about it. Nige couldn't have made him any more welcome and couldn't have made it easier for Darren to carry on playing. Who knows if he'd played a dozen games for us and got a couple of goals he might have then got another year somewhere else. He went down in my estimations when he chose not to take up our invite of play and train when you feel like it. He'd clearly packed in a lot earlier than his official retirment suggests.

I saw him pull up outside a restaurant and despite there being numerous empty car parking spaces literally 20 yards away, what does he do, he dumps his car on the double yellow lines outside the front door. Too important to comply with the rules for the everyday plebs! COYB.

Nigel’s worse signing over his 20 years or so.

I went to Kiddy for last seasons friendly and sat directly behind the dug out. Bent was there in his civvies and didn’t get changed at all for the 1st half. It seemed as if even while at the ground he was in a quandary as to whether he wanted to play or not. After about 5 mins of the second half he went to get changed and Nigel bought him on almost immediately. But he never looked remotely like scoring or really creating anything for others. To me he just didn’t look like he wanted to do the hard yards and push himself to train properly. For me the right decision he stuck with Sky.
