Seems we have signed Jacob Blyth from Leicester on loan.
Also, just to be clear, Mcgurk was released by Tranmere and got a trial at Birmingham - before he signed up for us.

Underwhelmed with Blyth joining, seem to remember he was with us a couple of years ago and didn't show much - fingers crossed he does the business this time round. You cannot replace a natural goalscorer with someone who 'might' step up - need a proven goal scorer soon imho

Obviously Leicester see something in him to retain him.

from his Twitter account
Jacob Blyth @blythy9 ยท 3m
Glad to of signed back on loan for Burton! Looking forward to helping them to promotion. QPR tonight at home!
I think he only played one game and one as a sub for us before getting injured but I liked the look of him. Bit of a bull in a china shop if I recall rightly?
edit: he scored 3 in 11 appearances for the cobblers last season. surely there is someone else on the radar reading between the lines of Gazs interview in todays Mail, maybe a speedy attacking left-winger?

Think the Telegraph was the only place I didn't check. Yes I remember him, don't think we really had chance to see his talent in 2 substitute appearances before getting injured. I gather he did ok at Northampton and Notts County. Not overwhelmed personally but I guess Gary Rowett and Nigel Pearson see something in him and know 100% more than I do about him.

View AttachmentThat's an interesting one about Lee Holmes Peacock, he would seem to fit the bill of the type of player Gary Rowett has been talking about. Abdoulaye Faye I would be surprised about to be honest, I've seen him play for Stoke in the Premier league a few times and he was a solid reliable defender for them but with his age and our strength in that department it would seem an unlikely signing but we will have to wait and see what happens.

Thrilled to bits with that. I was worried that his form might prompt Preston to recall him but now he's ours! Brilliant news.

I agree re: Faye, a 36yo (I can hear someone screaming DAVE )... Holmes is at Preston and we surely have links there so...... I have been talking to a PNE fan and he tells me Lee Holmes has a pectoral injury at the moment, i'm sure Rowett said the player he was after was injured at present.

On the Preston forum they are sad to see him go wishing him all the best.

Yes, he did say that here are the quotes from Aug.29th... "I've got my eye on one or two wingers but I don't think we'll be bringing in anyone permanently before the deadline," he said. "We're waiting for the emergency loan window to open and the players in question aren't fully fit at the moment, but when we sign them people will realise why we waited," said Rowett. If he is referring to Holmes and as atwood said Preston fans like him, then thats another positive as we move into a tough 7 weeks.

I see Kavanagh got the boot at Carlisle today, there is plenty of banter from Mansfield fans offering them Cox as his replacement.
