hello fellow Brewers fans,
I am the newest member here and via this way I would like to introduce myself. My name is Jan, I live in Belgium and I am a Burton Albion FC fan. Bit strange for a Belgian to support and British club you might say, let alone a club in the League 2. I have absolutely no link with Burton, or Great Britain all together, so my reasons to go and support Burton are different. Quite some years ago, I think it must have been at least 12 years, an uncle of mine went for business to England. He visited a couple of cities and towns and by the time he came back, he had about 6 jerseys with for his nephews. Now Belgian football never really interested me, but I always played football myself at the local club called Esperanza Neerpelt. In those days, and still actually, I followed Olympique de Marseille of France. Now, back to the 6 jerseys, I remember there were jerseys of Liverpool, Arsenal, Bradford, but also this Yellow jersey with Knott as a sponsor in black across the chest. At that moment I fell in love with the jersey and, as it was the jersey of 'only Burton Albion FC', nobody wanted it and it became mine. Truth be told, I wore it so much it had to be thrown out, so I no longer have it, but as from that first day on, I became a fan of the club. I looked up all about it, I followed all the results, stayed up late to watch the Football League Show (as you know that is an hour later here due to the hour difference), my parents didn't understand it, why did I support such a small Club? I lived latest successes, seen the Club grow, am hopeful for the upcoming campaign, League 1 is within reach. I still feel like that little kid when I talk about the Club. And even though I have never had the chance to attend a game, I am always sitting here in Yellow and Black during the matches. Now that may sound silly and my soon-to-be wife also doesn't understand it at all, but that is my way to support the team, to feel part of the Club. I never really had the time to participate in blogs and forums due to studies and my job, but now, at the age of nearly 27, I finally managed to get there and I plan on participating as much as I can. One of my biggest wishes is to be able to get in the middle of the action and attend games at the Pirelli Stadium. Also, if anyone of you has ways to follow all about the Brewers via the internet, news, livestreams, etc, please feel free to share them with me. I still feel like there are things about the Club I am missing, because I live in Belgium, so please help me on that matter as much as you can.
Should you have any questions for me, I'll gladly answer them.
cheers guys,
and... Come On You BREWERS!!
