Having missed the game on saturday due to being at work i managed to catch the post match interveiw with mr rowett and a certain comment he made regarding the game not being a four-niller, couple this with the sub headline on the back of tonights mail, the word flatters- was used.having seen the goals from the game- like someone commented to me that had they been scored in the prem sky would be raving about them for weeks !! Maybe mr rowett was using a bit of kidology but seemed to me a little unfair ? Just wondering if anybody had thought the same or did four- nil flatter us

I think it did to be honest, but we were the better team and hit the bar twice as well. But on overall play we didn't stuff them, even for first 20 mins or so, 2nd half they started brightly. We got the goals at the right time and defended ever so well.

We hammered them. First 20 minutes aside, we were bar far the better team. They got a hiding, nice to be giving one instead of receiving one!

GR never gets carried away, lose, win or draw. Far less emotional than Pesch in his reactions I would say. Perhaps he was putting himself in Chris Wilder's shoes with his comments? CW said it was his worst ever day as Oxford manager.

Gary was right. This was not a game where we camped in their half, putting them under constant pressure. In that respect it was quite an even game. But make no mistake we fully deserved the win due to the moments of highest quality link up play and finishing, plus top quality defending and overall committment. More of the same is required, if we are to be the force to be reckoned with, that we wish to be. You guys who were not at the game for whatever reason, you need to get down there and see the way we can play!!

I felt it was a thoroughly deserved win. Oxford got what they deserved.

I actually thought we'd played better and lost this season but maybe that's just me. For a good 70 minutes against Exeter we were on top but never got into the game. They hit us with 3 smash and grab goals and 3-0 definitely flattered Exeter.
We did deserve to win on Saturday. No question about that. Did 4-0 flatter us? Yes, I think it did a little bit but it could easily have been more...Holness' "cross" was over the line and McCrory hit the bar.
What we're going through at the minute is reminiscent of some of the beginning of last season. Zola scored a wonder goal at Southend in a 1-0 win, the team were working hard and keeping the opposition out and Richards was bang in form scoring wonder goals every week. They started to believe their own hype and the manager wasn't strong enough to thell them otherwise.
I'd like to think that Rowett is drilling into the players exactly what he's said to the press and all the old cliches are coming into play. Get Saturday out of your heads because York will be more difficult opponents and we'll have to work harder to get a result.

I agree with the above, and I think the difference between last season and this season is that we are going to defend better. I really expect us to let in far fewer goals this season. Let's face it we need to, because this has been our main weakness over the last 3 seasons.

we were not dominant for a lot of the game. for the first 20 and for a lot of the 2nd half it was more them or at least even. we took our chances well, and our defense was very good. Diamond, O'Connor and Holness were rocks back there. oh, and tomo made a couple of goal savers.

We were by far the better side against a very poor Oxford side, 4-0 did flatter us but where else will you see 4 goals of such quality?

I think Gary is trying to keep everyone calm. It'd be really easy to get carried away (I am myself) but you start every game 0-0 and the last one doesn't matter anymore. We got three points, move on.
But I'm a fan, not the boss. I'm allowed to get excited!
