A few weeks ago I thought we might be applauding Gillingham as champions at the Pirelli on the last day of the season Now I'm not so sure. It might be the match that decides who is champion, Gillingham or Albion. I know football has a nasty habit of turning round and kicking ones backside to make one face reality but I have rarely felt so confident of Albion doing well no matter who we play. Our home record is exemplary and our recent away record is P5, W2, D2, L1. The defeat at Bristol Rovers does not seem so bad when you see, as has been mentioned above, they have also just beaten Exeter and Port Vale

I think they are champions-elect barring the kind of collapse that we suffered crossing the line in the BSP. They've had the most wins, the fewest defeats, the most away wins and conceded the fewest goals; all title-winning ingredients along with having one the biggest budgets.
They'll be 8 pts clear if they win their game in hand, so the title looks like theirs to lose.

For me there is no way we will win the league. Gillingham will be the side to win the league, i dont think we will take second or third for me. Play-offs is what im looking at, we have to slip up somewhere.

I keep thinking the same, expecting a slip up - but so far it's not happening and the games are running down. Just done the bbc predictor thingy after last nights results, and assuming the current form of all teams carries on the way they are (which of course never happens), despite us still being top of the form table over 6 games (we have been for a while); we are looking at finishing 2nd, but still 5 points off Gillingham. That assumes we'll still continue getting results in more or less the same way we have been doing though. Of the run ins of all the teams, on paper we probably have an easier time of things, we've already played most of the top sides fairly recently and got wins from them That as we know has been Albions undoing in the past - losing games against teams near the bottom but turning it on against the teams near the top.

When your watching Burton Albion play, Yes there does need to be a slip up, nothing is every that straight forward.

You could argue we had our slip up at Bristol. I agree of course that it is unlikely that ANY team will carry in winning indefinitely. But that of course applies to all teams not just Burton. The point is that we can stay in the top three now we are there and there is a slim chance of actually winning the league as well although unlikely I agree. Never say never.

Got to say that is my view too, automatic promotion is there for us to take, its in our own hands,a play off place is virtually assured. Crewe managed to get up last season on the back of not losing any of their last 18/19 games so as i see it there is no reason we can not do it. We have the ability in the squad.

I have not only family commitments that day, but also a long standing event I attend every year!! I am not only going to upset my family but also a wide range of my friends so I can be at the Pirelli - will have an awful lot of making up to do afterwards!!

I have had some good responses to champions match on April 27th.
Albion have 23 points from their last ten games so they could expect 18 or 19 points from the next eight games giving a maximum of 84 points.
Gillingham have 18 from 10 games and can expect 16 from their next nine games giving them 86 points.
However, remember that the last game is Albion v. Gillingham and positions could be reversed. I know I'm dreaming but it's wonderful just to think it really could happen.
To come down to earth at this stage of the season every next match is "massive" and we have to do well at Dagenham on Saturday.

I've not seen who Gillingham & Vale have got in the run up to the end but if you look at things from their point of view, they'll be thinking "Blimey, we're in trouble - Albion have got a right easy last few games."
To my mind, it's all down to man management now, Mr Rowett. We've shown we can beat the best (ish). He just needs to keep them focussed on doing the right things against the clubs less close to the top.
He's got Jacques Maghoma playing well at last after three years. I think Gary can do it. Champions has a nice ring to it. I'd be happy with promotion meself.
